Wednesday Meeting

I am just reminding you to read the article that Lazar and I gave out to everyone. Possibly, you should think of a way to conduct the experiment we talked about.

In addition, the people from the Yearbook said that they will come on Wednesday for a photo of the club, so it would be nice for you to be there.

Sigmund Freud Reading

This time, we will be divided into two groups:

1) Alexandra, Alexandra, Mihail, Kiril, and Lazar will read:
http://www.victorianweb.org/science/freud/division.html
http://www.victorianweb.org/science/freud/libido.html
http://www.victorianweb.org/science/freud/develop.html

2) Maria K., Tzveta, Kalina, Ivan, and Emil will read:
http://webspace.ship.edu/cgboer/psychoanalysis.html - only the part about Sigmund Freud.

http://www.iep.utm.edu/f/freud.htm is a good source. I started reading it, and interesting points of view are presented. I recommend that you check out at least a part of it.

For Wednesday, read the article that you received from Lazar or me. It will help us with the experiment.

I expect to see posters from all of you around campus tomorrow! You can already see mine.

See you on Wednesday, December 5. By the way, someone will come from the ACS Yearbook to take a picture of our club, so BE SURE YOU ARE THERE (if you want to be in the yearbook, obviously).

Information about Sigmund Freud

Hello, everyone! As you know, our next topic for discussion will regard the ideas of Sigmund Freud. In order to have a successful and well-flowing meeting, I have picked some sources for your preliminary reading.

http://www.victorianweb.org/science/freud/division.html
http://www.victorianweb.org/science/freud/libido.html
http://www.victorianweb.org/science/freud/develop.html

These three come from one same site (obvious, huh?); I picked these sections because I consider them most essential to our discussion. If you want to read more from this site, check it out:
http://www.victorianweb.org/science/freud/freud_ov.html

http://webspace.ship.edu/cgboer/psychoanalysis.html

This particular source has several parts; I want you to read only the one about Freud.

http://www.iep.utm.edu/f/freud.htm

This one is taken from the Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy; it is not a mandatory source; however, there are interesting facts about Freud's life that might help you to establish further connections.

Enjoy and take care,

For Tomorrow

Constantin has a problem with his Internet connection, so you will have to do without the information. You should just think of a general title to put on your mini-poster (connected to psychology, of course), or you can very briefly search for some piece of information about Sigmund Freud to include on your poster. That is all.

I'll see you tomorrow during the last 15-20 minutes of lunch in cafeteria at the table that is directly opposite the exit to Ostrander.

Information for Sigmund Freud

The next topic is Sigmund Freud, and it will be presented by Cons. Cons, I am going to hurry you a bit, but we have other things to do as well. Come up with three or four sources and post them here until tomorrow, Tuesday. You should be able to post a new message on this blog, as I already sent out invitations to everyone, but if you have problems, send me an e-mail, and I will post the sources for you.

Everyone else, I need you to have at least gone over your part of the information tomorrow, so that on Wednesday you can come to me during lunch with a little idea for a mini-poster to popularize the club. As we talked last Wednesday, it needs to attract people's attention. For more information, see one of my previous posts here (Extra CAS Opportunity). As you remember, we all decided that you were going to come to me during the last 20-15 mins of lunch on Wednesday, November 28, with a little idea for a mini-poster. We are going to discuss them briefly, so that you can prepare them shortly afterwards. This is all for now.

Be sure to check the blog tomorrow as well!

You will get extra CAS hours for these posters, so do the job! :)

If you have any questions, e-mail me or comment on my post.

Reading for Behaviorism

Everyone, these are the groups for reading for our next meeting, Wednesday, November 21:

Group 1: Constantin, Lora, Alexandra, and Alexandra will read:
http://hagar.up.ac.za/catts/learner/1999/venter_jw/lro/theory/neob.htm
and check out:
http://science.jrank.org/pages/8448/Behaviorism-Neobehaviorism-1930-1955.html
The second one is longer, so you may not read it thoroughly, but it contains details, so it would be helpful.

Group 2: Maria K., Mihail, and Kiril will read:
http://www.funderstanding.com/behaviorism.cfm
and
http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/behaviorism/ until pt. 4 (Popularity of Behaviorism)
EDIT: The second entry is a little confusing, so you'd better choose an entry from one of the two other
groups. You may still read the second one for your group, but be careful because it contains additional information.

Group 3: Emil, Lazar, and Ivan will read:
http://www.funderstanding.com/behaviorism.cfm
and pt. 7 (Why be Anti-Behaviorist) from:
http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/behaviorism/

While reading, try to see which parts are explanations of principles and methods, and which include someone's attitude and opinion. Both parts are important, but you need to separate them.
Also, aim to understand the basic explanation of behaviorism at first. Then, consider additional information. At last, form your own opinion on the topic, so that you can share it with us.

That is all for now. Read your parts and see you on Wednesday!

New Topic: an Extra CAS Opportunity!!

Our next topic is Behaviorism. These are the sources Tzveta sent me:
http://www.funderstanding.com/behaviorism.cfm
http://webspace.ship.edu/cgboer/beh.html
http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/behaviorism/
I haven't looked at them thoroughly yet, but I will soon. Meanwhile, we need several people to prepare small posters to put around the school campus. They should include some kind of picture and a question/statement connected to our topic. The point is grabbing people's attention. Also, the address of the blog should be put at the bottom, so that people can visit it if interested. I think it will be good for you, the members of the club, to read through some of the information, find something that you think will be interesting, and prepare a little poster (an A4 piece of paper) in order to popularize our club. Please send it to me before you print it and put it up, so that I can make any corrections if necessary. You will be able to get CAS hours for your work (Service included), so you may find this opportunity useful:) If you don't feel like preparing a whole poster by yourself, combine the work with another member. If you have any questions, ask me.

This is all for now.

Information about Behaviorism

The next topic, Behaviorism, will be presented by Kalina and Tzveta. Girls, be ready to send me sources with information on Tuesday or Wednesday. Look for thorough explanations, different approaches, and different view points. You need to find a minimum of four sources, so that we can choose three of them. This is all for now.

Meeting on November 7

Първа група ще чете от http://ahpweb.org/aboutahp/whatis.html, като започне от началото и стигне до "The Humanistic View of Human Behavior".

http://facultyweb.cortland.edu/andersmd/HUMAN/ROLE.HTML
http://www.psy.pdx.edu/PsiCafe/KeyTheorists/HumApp.htm

Starting Post

Hi, everyone!
The blog is brand new, so there is nothing on it yet, but things will appear soon. That's it for now.
